1.3 - Self-Made Cinderella

Now that we actually have some other sims to keep fed and warm--and some money--it's time to get a roof over our heads. The game crashed/froze a couple times, so I ended up building the legacy home three separate times. 😕

It looks a little funny for now. When we get the funds I'll be adding a second story and lifting this up onto a foundation, but for now we'll be doing fine with just the first floor.

Ellie: So, how do you feel about me becoming your new mom?

Prunita: I have no idea who you are.

We still need funds to get the place a little more furnished, so I send the family back to my movie theater, where I know there's a gift pile in the party room. I feel like we could have a lot of child birthday parties in here.

Are you serious.

Ellie: Oh! Oh! A microscope!

As on-brand as it is for this family, we will be selling it for some furniture money.

The paparazzi guy is here again... but none of us are celebrities.

Jose: I'm just a bubble tea customer today.

For some reason the bubble tea counter concession stand isn't working, either. :/

The girls amuse themselves outside when we get home, since there's not much else for them to do. I'm selling the television one of them got from the pile, but we can keep the dollhouse.

We managed to get the essentials--kitchen basics, bathroom, and beds.

Speaking of beds... Ellie and Raaj broke theirs in.

Raaj: That was so good, it mad my beard grow!

Shavonne (from our singles club) invited us over to her house.

I thought we could build some family relations by doing a puzzle together, but, uh... Shavonne snagged the last seat.

She winds up playing chess with Elise Benoit in her dad's study.

Where is he, by the way?

In the pool, apparently. In the middle of winter.

We already had to see one person die of cold... let's not have a repeat of that, please.

Back home, Prunita decides to grab some of the fruitcake that's been left outside, despite hating it. You know we have food in the kitchen now, right?

Prunita: I don't want to waste food...

More attempts at family bonding, since both the girls want to be friends with Ellie. This time it's a snowball fight.

It looks like we're missing someone, though...

Prunita: I have to finish my homework before school tomorrow.

Oh, well... good job.

Apparently out we owe §718 in bills. I think we had about §33 at this point...

Between getting used to four sims at once and trying to scramble for money, I got a little lax with pictures. Next one I have is Prunita working on her school project... outside. We have so much empty room in the house! We don't have furniture!

Prunita: I'm fine out here....

Purnima was working on hers in the girls' bedroom like a sensible person.

While Raaj was working and the girls were at school, I got Ellie working to get ahead in her career. She's supposed to read some books, and we don't have any at home, so...

I thought Prunita could get a win with this pop-up, since music is her thing, but apparently not.

After she finishes her reading, I send Ellie to look for any plants or frogs we can sell.

That §1 extra is going to be a game changer. But at least he's moving up in the world.

This was the point I realized Ellie could catch fish in the desert world, since it's warmer there. I had Raaj grill plantains for the kids while Ellie crossed off a few fish in the collection.

Got home to find a vampire hanging outside the front door. Quick, everyone! Get inside!

Sometime in the middle of the night I spot him waltzing OUT of the house, which means someone had to invite him IN. I flip through the family's relationship tabs to find that Ellie's the only one who 'knows' Escher, so it was definitely her.

We're still trying to become friends with the girls.

Ellie: Do you want to be the flower girl in my wedding?

Prunita: I don't think we can afford an actual wedding right now.....

In other news, Harvey's going out with some guy named Derek!

Jerrilyn comes home with Purnima and Prunita.

Jerrilyn: Shouldn't you guys be wearing coats?

Purnima: Sometimes you have to make sacrifices in the name of fashion.

Since Jerrilyn's here, maybe they can all do homework together!

Or Purnima can do her homework at the table while Prunita and Jerrilyn do their homework outside.

I force Prunita inside when she starts turning blue.

Prunita: Aw, but Purnima's gonna bully me. :(

Jerrilyn: That's why I wore my coat.

They almost immediately got a 'difficult' dynamic when Prunita sat down at the table to do her homework.

I decided to stop pretending we were actually going to be able to have a conventional wedding, so we have a traditional legacy kitchen wedding.

Ellie: With this ring, I thee wed...

Raaj: Uh... you missed...

Ellie: Did I?

Raaj: Oh, wow! That's amazing. Like magic!

Ellie: Not magic. Science.

You may now kiss the bride!
